Block Grant:

The Block Grant is funded by the Wyoming Department of Health with Federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant funds. This grant serves all of Uinta County. The grant is in place to help the community address prevention of alcohol, drug and tobacco use.

The Block Grant has two main focuses at this time. First, the grant is focused on the AAMP (Aspiring Attitudes: Mission Possible!) room in the High School. The Block Grant coordinator works with the Youth Coalition to provide a room where students are rewarded for making healthy and smart choices. Students who choose to be a part of AAMP agree to be put into the Random Drug Testing Pool at the school. Being a part of AAMP helps students to say NO when they are asked by their peers to use alcohol, drugs, or tobacco.

The second focus of the Block Grant is the All-Stars program. This is a Peer Leadership program that is being put into place at the Middle Schools in Evanston. The All-Stars program provides drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention curriculum to students in the middle school.

The Block Grant coordinator also partners with the YOU and other entities in the community during the month of September. September is the National Alcohol and Drug Addicition Recovery Month. We have an annual Recovery Celebration that includes dinner, speakers and entertainment. Look for more information in the months to come on the Recovery Celebration here in Evanston.

If you would like your children to be involved in these programs, you can get more information by contacting Alicia Richins; Block Grant Coordinator.
